Digital Humanities (DH) is an increasingly popular field in academia that involves projects, tools, and databases. As a graduate student studying history and interested in the Middle East, I became intrigued by the growing impact of DH projects and decided to explore the relationship between DH and the studies of the Ottoman Empire.
I created a blog post and a short lecture to present in the core course of the DH Certificate Program (DH 8991 Introduction: History and Theory of Digital Humanities). The presentation provides an introduction and overview of various platforms, digital databases, 3D modeling-VR projects, and ongoing GIS projects to understand how Ottoman studies have responded to and adapted to developments in DH.
